x3butterfly

DJ

x3butterfly is a Mexican-American DJ and producer native to Detroit. With a background in experimental performance art and interdisciplinary studies completed at the California Institute of the Arts, their path into club culture led them through Europe before ultimately settling in New York.

Their breakthrough as a DJ has unfolded on a global scale, with performances at Panorama Bar, Badaboum, YuYu in Mexico City, and Final Taipei, alongside appearances at festivals including Solstice, Dekmantel Selectors, and Honcho Campout. These moments form part of an international trajectory spanning Europe, North America, and Asia.

Based in New York since 2021, x3butterfly performs regularly across the city’s underground circuit, including recurring appearances at BASEMENT and Nowadays. Their sound moves fluidly between UK club culture, Detroit techno, and the euphoric accents of Chicago house, shaped by a deep connection to both classical and contemporary dance.

As a producer, x3butterfly continues to release new material. In 2025, their track “Abysmal Yearning” appeared on the sub-alchemy compilation on subglow, marking recent label output alongside a series of original tracks released independently. Their productions extend the same exploratory approach found in their DJ sets, combining acid, electro, and dubstep with industrial, experimental, and bass-driven textures.
