Producing Mentor

Little Island seeks a Producing Mentor to act as mentor, facilitator and co-producer for its Teen Night series. The Producing Mentor supervises the activities of a cohort of (4) Emerging Producers, facilitates workshops and meetings between the Emerging Producer cohort and their Creative Director and oversees the successful execution of the cohort’s culminating event. This role will join Little Island’s cohort of Teaching Artists. As members of the Education & Community Relations department, Teaching Artists make significant intellectual and artistic contributions to program design and are responsible for serving as co-planners, community partner liaisons and workshop facilitators. This role reports to the Education & Community Relations Manager. A successful Producing Mentor is a collaborative and culturally responsive practitioner with experience working with college aged students and early career professionals. Horticulturist

Little Island’s Horticulture team is responsible for maintaining the Park’s beautiful 2.4 acre perennial landscape. Each Horticulturist facilitates the daily and seasonal landscape maintenance of an assigned zone within the park including planting, weeding, watering, pest management and snow management. Reporting directly to the Head of Horticulture, the Horticulturists are also essential members of the Operations team, and they will collaborate with park staff and supervisors to ensure Little Island’s landscape and facilities are kept to the highest standard. Situated over the Hudson River, Little Island provides a challenging and unique opportunity to hone your horticulture skills with over 350 varieties of trees, shrubs, vines, grasses, and perennials. Company Manager

Little Island is seeking a Company Manager to join the Artistic Programming Department. Little Island is home to three unique outdoor spaces for social gathering and live performance. The Company Manager will work closely with the General Manager and the producing team to provide a high standard of care and hospitality to Little Island artists. They will serve as the primary contact and concierge for artists throughout their tenure at Little Island by managing the artist experience, payroll, sharing company communications, educating artists on Little Island policies and procedures, coordinating various contractual obligations, maintaining hospitality standards and addressing human resources-related matters. The ideal candidate is organized, thorough, and has a passion for engaging with artists, ensuring that they feel welcome and have the information they need to have a successful and memorable experience with us on Little Island. This role reports directly to the General Manager.

Little Island Usher Corps Program

Little Island seeks engaging and energetic individuals to be members of our Usher Corps Program. Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Workforce Development, Ushers play a key role in fostering a hospitable, welcoming, and inclusive environment for visitors and audience members. Ushers perform front of house duties for performances and serve as Little Island representatives for the public. In addition to fulfilling their job responsibilities, Ushers will also connect with professionals within the Little Island network and attend weekly professional development seminars, workshops, and neighborhood excursions highlighting New York City’s public art and public spaces. A successful Production Carpenter will be an adaptable team member with a passion for supporting artistic needs, strong problem-solving skills, a robust background in hands-on theatrical carpentry, and experience managing crews and solving the technical challenges that occur during load-in. Little Island is home to three unique outdoor spaces for social gathering and live performance. We seek a Production Electrician to join the Artistic Programming Department to install and maintain the lighting elements for a variety of multi-disciplinary events and performances. A successful Production Electrician will be an adaptable team member with a passion for supporting artistic needs, strong problem-solving skills, and experience managing crews and solving technical challenges that occur during shop prep and load-in. They are self-motivated and prioritize safety and hospitality in their work. This role reports directly to the Production Manager.

Payroll Specialist

Little Island seeks a Payroll Specialist to join the team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Payroll Specialist’s focus is to ensure that employees receive their pay accurately and on time, performing an essential function within the organization. This role handles all aspects of the payment process, from tracking employee’s time to issuing paychecks. The ideal Payroll Specialist will work independently, but also within a Finance team and across departments to problem solve in their bookkeeping and payroll responsibilities the organization. They are efficient, extremely detail-oriented, and are excited about working for a dynamic public space and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders.

Human Resources Generalist

Little Island seeks a Human Resources (HR) Generalist to join the team. The HR Generalist is a culturally competent self-starter with experience supporting all areas of Human Resources with specific attention to administering all benefits and leave, regulatory and compliance-related needs, assist in developing and executing organizational policies and practices, and optimizing systems as well as interpreting data in a fast-paced, evolving HR department. The HR Generalist will also have experience managing detail-oriented recordkeeping, communication plans, and files, always with an eye towards excellence and compliance. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of HR Operations.

Assistant Manager of Park Administration

Little Island seeks an Assistant Manager of Park Administration to join the team. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Assistant Manager of Park Administration works to ensure the Director has a strong foundation of administrative support and the department, including Horticulture, Maintenance, and Park Operations, has the information and administrative systems necessary to deliver a high level of excellence in the park. Responsibilities include but are not limited to supporting budget development and tracking, department-wide schedules and project tracking, hiring, and training systems, implementation and tracking of safety plans, utility and IT services, capital maintenance project support.   A successful Assistant Manager of Park Administration will be a strong project manager and systems-thinker who is excited to contribute to a new and evolving public park. Candidates with experience supporting a senior leader in managing budgets as well as creating and maintaining administrative systems are strongly encouraged to apply.

Custodian

Little Island’s Custodians are key members of the Park Operations department, a dynamic team of collaborative and motivated individuals who collectively care for the park and its visitors. In addition to a beautiful park, Little Island’s facility includes performance spaces, public and indoor restrooms, indoor meeting rooms, staff and artist areas, food stalls, and equipment. Custodians will embody Little Island’s values by collaborating often across departments, jumping in to help solve problems and address immediate park needs, communicating park-related concerns or issues to Park leadership proactively, and fostering memorable visitor experiences and relationships in the park each day. The larger Operations department is also comprised of Park Supervisors, Park Attendants, Security, Maintenance, Horticulture staff, and administrators who work together to operate our park for the public every day. Little Island’s Park Attendants serve as the primary stewards of the park and its visitors, cultivating a meaningful and memorable experience for all park visitors and maintaining a clean and safe outdoor environment. The Park Attendants are key members of the Park Operations department, a dynamic team of collaborative and motivated individuals who collectively care for the park and its visitors. Attendants will embody Little Island’s values by collaborating often across all departments at Little Island, jumping in to help solve problems and address immediate park needs, communicating park-related concerns or issues to Park leadership proactively, and fostering memorable visitor experiences and relationships in the park each day.  The larger Operations department is also comprised of Park Supervisors, Custodians, Security, Maintenance, Horticulture staff, and administrators who work together to operate our park for the public each day. The ideal Park Attendants are outgoing communicators, accountable and professional team members, and
