Company Manager

Little Island is seeking a Company Manager to join the Artistic Programming Department for the 2025 season. The Company Manager will work closely with the General Manager, Senior General Manager, and Producing teams to ensure a high standard of care and hospitality for Little Island artists. As the primary contact and concierge for artists throughout their time at Little Island, the Company Manager will manage the overall artist experience, including payroll, communication, policy education, contractual obligations, hospitality standards, human resources-related matters.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail oriented, and passionate and passionate about fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for artists. They should excel in providing clear communication and be adaptable in response to changing circumstances. will be comfortable with the flexibility required to adapt to changing circumstances. This position reports directly to the General Manager.

Artistic Programming

Little Island’s artistic programming is dedicated to creating new work in dance, theater, music, and opera. In 2024, the Island launched a commissioning program that featured nine world premieres from distinguished creators, including Twyla Tharp, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Davóne Tines, Henry Hoke, Pam Tanowitz, Britton Smith, Qween Jean, and Chris Thile. By collaborating with artists across genres and disciplines, the program aims to create unique collaborations and projects for our outdoor stages and help ensure their continued success in the future.

  • Schedule Expectations: This position requires flexibility, with regular nights, weekends, and holidays to support the summer programming season, as well as off-season development work. Regular 6-day work weeks will be required during peak periods.

What You’ll Do

  • Process weekly payroll, contractor payments, union benefit reporting, and reimbursements for artists and creative team members.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of artists and creative teams in collaboration with Little Island Administrative Department to ensure appropriate access, IT accommodations and orientation needs are met efficiently.
  • Support company members with HR-related concerns, including coordinating accessibility accommodations, managing incident reporting, overseeing injury follow-up, and processing sick time requests.
  • Work closely with General Management and Producing teams to maintain artist hospitality standards and serve as the primary point of contact for artists, creatives, and performers.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Communications, and external ticketing vendor on managing Artistic Programming ticket allocations for house seats, production seats, and company seats.
  • Gather and coordinate departmental reserved seating requirements and communicate these to the Front of House team to ensure proper arrangement and readiness.
  • Oversee and manage company members’ travel and housing arrangements, as well as other contractual obligations as needed.
  • Serve as the primary onsite representation of the General Management team, ensuring that safety, human resource, and organizational policies are communicated to and upheld throughout the development, rehearsal, tech and production processes.
  • Distribute capture and media notices to company members, ensuring timely communication regarding filming, photography, or other similar activities.
  • Assist the General Management team with record keeping and administrative tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by General Manager related to park operations and programming.

What You Bring

  • 4+ years in company management, senior stage management or arts administration, with a focus on working closely with performing artists.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Familiarity with Artifax and Airtable is a plus; proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Ability to respond to changing circumstances associated with live performance, such as artist needs and weather-related Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of individuals both within and outside the organization.
  • A genuine interest in contributing to our culture of camaraderie and excellence, collaborating and problem-solving across departments.
  • Comfort working in varying weather conditions, including light rain, summer heat, and in intermittent direct sunlight.Ability to remain stationary position for up to 50% of the workday, navigate stairs, and regularly lift up to 25 pounds.
