Visit Little Island and discover a place for leisure, recreation, and play. Whether you’re enjoying a scheduled arts activity or making your own fun, we welcome you to refresh and restore during your time at the park.
Visitors of all ages are invited encouraged to participate in Creative Breaks, free artmaking activities in the park every Wednesday through Saturday. Our wide range of activities are designed to will delight and inspire while connecting and connect participants to art and nature. Led by teaching artists and community partners, Creative Breaks range from DIY arts and craft activities to music and dance lessons classes , storytelling sessions, and more. Creative Breaks are one-hour long and take place around our Art Cart, so find our mobile artmaking hub in the park and come play with us!
Items for Play
As you explore Little Island, you’ll find items for play sprinkled throughout the park for your delight. Objects are available depending on the season, so come back to find your favorite source of play! Delight in the sounds and tones of the Dance Chimes; be transfixed by the optical illusions of the Spinning Discs along our pathways; try your hand at our Instrument for All and Ferraphone music makers; roll around in one of our spun chairs or take a spin on the Kling Klang disc to make sounds with objects. During the summer, play some tunes on our piano in The Play Ground, brought to you by Sing for Hope.
