Curated by Raquel Acevedo Klein: Two central questions for conductor, vocalist, and pianist Raquel Acevedo Klein have been, “how do we come together in the face of crisis and what do we do in response?” Klein’s explicit embrace of technology and improvisation as well as her commitment to the democratizing of a musical experience, lead her to curate a program of immersive and layered performances that connect us across distance, hold space for individuals to process and reflect on trauma, and propose new ways to distribute power and responsibility in a collective.
“The role of music in our daily lives, and the heightened need for it as a sign of breath and life in the face of tragedy, cannot be overstated. We have the tools and wherewithal to bring music with us everywhere we go, and that can help us dismantle structures and systems that are actively trying to keep us separate, and hurting.” — Raquel Acevedo Klein
