AMOC (American Modern Opera Company) is a pathbreaking and virtuosic ensemble of dancers, singers, and instrumentalists. EASTMAN is a multi-dimensional performance piece, still in development, that reflects the performers' consideration of the iconoclastic composer Julius Eastman’s art and the larger context of his creativity, and humanity. The project will contend with Eastman’s life and work by interweaving personal narrative, interviews, conversation, and performance of instrumental and vocal music by Eastman, highlighting music that he famously performed and exploring his musical context.

Performance runs 60 minutes.

The development of this program was supported by Little Island with additional funding provided by the Mertz Gilmore Foundation

Piano by Steinway & Sons
