Georgina Rossi & Silvie Cheng: Instrumental Music
The Play Ground
Georgina Rossi & Silvie Cheng are NY-based solo and chamber musicians who specialize in classical & contemporary music. Their debut album, “Mobili: Music for Viola & Piano from Chile” (released in 2020 on New Focus Recordings), was praised by press as “expertly played” (WQXR), “a startling new recording” (CVNC Journal), and “one of my favorite discoveries of the year” (KDFC). Continuing their exploration of South American contemporary music, a sophomore album highlighting Brazilian composers will be coming out spring 2023. Georgina is a former member of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and currently on the music faculty at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She has given talks/master classes at the International Viola Academy and Lawrence University Conservatory of Music, as well as on the arts podcast Capital-A. Silvie has performed in esteemed halls on five continents, from the California Center for the Arts to Brussels’ Flagey, and the University of South Africa to Shanghai’s Poly Theatre. Her collaborations with living composers have led to nearly 50 premieres since 2010, in such venues as Carnegie Hall, Cornell University, and the National Gallery of Canada.
